Ice Horse® Pony Back Blanket

The Ice Horse® Pony Back Blanket is designed to help treat equine back problems particularly common in performance ponies. This cold therapy horse blanket offers maximum coverage from the withers and shoulder blades along the spine and over the sacroiliac joint.

It includes 14 medium size pony Cold Capsule™ Inserts for use with the back blanket. All packs can be used at once or in isolated sections only to target specific areas. Packs stay cold for over two hours, allowing maximum penetration of cold therapy to deep muscle and connective tissue. For ease of use, the packs attach easily to the blanket with Velcro® brand fasteners.

About Cold Capsule Technology

When Cold Capsule inserts freeze, small ice crystals form. When fully frozen, the pack is filled with small ice crystals which look and feel like soft flakey snow, are malleable and conform to the horse’s body parts.

As the pack freezes and the ice crystals form, the pack expands slightly and needs to draw in air through the patented insert/bag. The vent is designed to resist liquid flow into or out of the insert. The conversion of the liquid to solid, which occurs during freezing of the insert, is what extends the time the bags stay below freezing. The patented formula of polymer granules eliminates the burning sensation associated with raw cold.

Cold Capsule inserts stay frozen for over to two hours. After use the inserts can be re-frozen. After extensive use the inserts become chunky—this is how you know when it’s time to replace them.

Note: When using Ice Horse products, the manufacturer recommends that your horse is securely tied and not left unattended.
