The E.A. Mattes Dressage EuroFit Quilt Only Correction Pad with Pockets for Shims is beautifully shaped with an upsweep at the back sides and anatomically contoured along the topline. It follows the contours of a horse’s back and allows for a perfect fit under a saddle. The patented Spine Free® design ensures the horse’s spine is not in contact with any seams, fabric or tension which in turn eliminates the risk of rubs and pressure on the sensitive area of the back around the spine.
Part of the Mattes Correction System collection, this quilted dressage pad has four pockets to hold Poly-Flex® Shims. It can be used to help maintain balance and straightness of the saddle for horses that change form through a season or have asymmetries.
Poly-Flex shims are resilient; they do not bottom compress or wear out like other types of shim. Further, they allow incremental adjustments to be made easily by layering. They are 5mm thick, designed to be layered, and are easily trimmed with scissors to taper the ends and create a pressure free fit if multiple shims are necessary.
Note: With the assistance and recommendation of a qualified saddle fitter, shims can help adjust the fit of a saddle on an asymmetrical horse or help fit a saddle that may sit a little low or may be slightly too big. Shims or inserts will not help the fit of a saddle that is too tight, and in fact can make the tight fit worse.
